Adventurous Princesses

There is nothing quite like the enchantment of princesses for my little girls.  They love them!  I was worried when there was a large age gap between my girls that they wouldn’t ever be in the same phase of play, but they were both so excited to get their Angel Wish Princess in a Box! Immediately they wanted to be, in their words, “Adventurous princesses” and go exploring 🙂

Loving the Sun with Swim Zip

swim zip 3 (1 of 1)

Summer is hands down my favorite season! I love the sun, but unfortunately I loved it a little too much growing up and didn’t protect my skin correctly.  I’m a lot more conscious now, and I’m hoping it will make a difference! We spend A LOT of time at the lake, river, pool, you name it, so sun protection is definitely a priority.   When I first saw the options at Swim Zip, I fell instantly in love! Also, I just met the owner Betsy last night, and she is AMAZING!

swim zip 1 (1 of 1)

There are so many reasons why I love this dress! It has thumb holes, it is lightweight, dries quickly, so comfortable, cinches on the side, comes in amazing colors and patterns, and offers so much protection from the sun! Leave it to me to stick with classic black though haha it is always my fave.

swim zip 4 (1 of 1)

I’m excited to have this next time we go to the ocean.  I’m always trying to stay protected through the hours of snorkeling, boogie boarding, paddle boarding, etc. I think it is time for another trip now that I’m daydreaming about all this!

Swim zip, modest adorable full coverage swim suit! Swim suit for moms, black swim dress.

Thank you to Swim Zip for this dress! Have an amazing week XO

Family Hike with Cariloha

Growing up, I remember dreading any time I had to go on a hike.  Ha I don’t really know why, I was probably just being lazy.  It always ended up being worth it to go!  Well, fast forward to now and I love hiking.  Not sure when the switch happened, but I’m glad it did.  Thankfully, my girls also love it!  Even though they are small, that is one of their favorite family activities.

When I got these new pieces from Cariloha’s Bamboo Fit collection, we thought it would be fun to shoot them at one of our favorite family hiking spots.  It is so beautiful there, and of course, the girls were excited to go!cariloha3

The pants, tank, and hoodie that I’m wearing are all made from bamboo!  I remember going into  a Cariloha store at one of our cruise ports in the Caribean.  Everything in the store is so soft! That is how these pieces are as well.  I wear this hoodie every chance I get.  It is very lightweight, so it has been perfect for the spring!

Women's athletic wear. Hiking clothes, capri leggings, tank, and lightweight hoodie.

These pants are also very soft, but honestly, a little thin for me.  I ended up wearing some little shorts under them and it worked great.  They do have a neat cooling effect that has made them really comfortable to run and hike in, especially in the afternoon heat! Cariloha has lots of options for clothing for the whole family, as well as bedding, bath, and more.  All of it is incredibly soft!

I have taken a yoga class up here one time, and I feel like it is such an empowering place to practice.  All the beauty around helps me feel grounded, and grateful.

Myla and I tried to do a pose together haha but we ended up just laughing instead!

We had so much fun on our family hike.  I’m grateful for my cute monkeys, and our fun adventures!  Enjoy your week, hope it’s an amazing one XO

Anniversary Trip and a Rad Swimsuit

IMG_9485

A couple weeks ago, Brian and I were able to sneak away for an anniversary trip to this gorgeous town in Idaho!  I was honestly blown away by how beautiful the mountains were, the river running through it, and the incredible wildlife.  I already want to go back!

IMG_9497

We had no idea when we decided to go last minute, that there was a winterfest going on that weekend.  We ended up missing most of it, except for chicken poop (ahem…they used a different word here) bingo.  Yes, you read that right.  They set out a bingo board and let chicken loose to choose the squares in the most bizarre way possible.  Haha…like what?!?! Anyway, back to this beautiful view 🙂

IMG_9442

The hotel we stayed in had a private hot springs that has a view of the incredible Sawtooth Mountains.  All the heart eyes.  We had to walk across a snowy field to get to the hot springs. Ha thankfully my hoodie from Rad Swim is so thick and warm! I thought I was going to freeze to death!

Speaking of Rad Swimthis suit is my favorite one piece I have ever owned! I always have a problem with them being long enough and this is the first one that I don’t feel like I have to battle the whole time I wear it.  We even got a little crazy and did some yoga haha!

IMG_9556IMG_9541

The hot springs were inside this cute little building!

This suit though…the fringe, details, and open back are too cute to pass up.  I honestly love it!

Such an incredible weekend! Thank you to Rad Swim for the suit and thank you to my husband for being the man of my dreams!  Have a wonderful week XO

Snowy Getaway with Arvo

IMG_9273

I am so grateful the snow has finally melted and the weather is warming up!  I’m definitely a summer girl.  However, this past weekend we decided to take our girls up to stay in a cabin and enjoy the mounds of snow still found in the mountains. It was so nice!  We had no cell service, or internet connection, so we were truly unplugged.  It felt wonderful to reconnect as a family!  We went sledding for hours, cuddled, and sipped hot cocoa.  Not many things beat that.

IMG_9284

While we were up there I was so grateful to have my Arvo watch, especially since I didn’t have my phone to find out what time it was.  I haven’t worn a watch in years because I am usually so picky about them! I miss wearing one, so I’m happy I have found one I love.  The sleek, minimalistic style is what drew me to this watch.  It goes with just about everything and is comfortable too! Not only that, but the company itself is also incredible.

This scarf is the same one from this post.  I’m totally loving it right now!  Hope you had a wonderful Valentines and Presidents’ Day! Enjoy your week! XO

The Big Island of Hawaii with Proof Eyewear

IMG_8409

Growing up, I always wanted to go to Hawaii.  Since I have been married to Brian, we have now been three times! He just keeps making all my dreams come true.  We have witnessed so many beautiful things on our travels, so I thought I would share a couple from this last trip to The Big Island!  Brian and I are both wearing sunglasses from Proof Eyewear.  We LOVE them! I had such a hard time choosing my favorite pair because I wanted all of them.  The frames are made from wood so they float, which is not only awesome, but it also comes in handy with our lifestyle. We had fun taking pics of them in different places along the way!

This first spot was called Puako.  The waves crashing over the volcanic rock was incredible!  However, the most amazing part was all of the sea turtles.  THEY WERE EVERYWHERE! In one spot we counted eleven of them!  It was so neat.  We spent a lot of time exploring and listening to the ocean.

IMG_1550

Another incredible place we visited this trip is Waipio Valley.  The water there is so beautiful that it is hard to describe.  It is bright blue and green, and the beach is black sand.  The contrast was amazing! You have to have 4 wheel drive to get down to it, so we just watched the huge waves from the top.  We saw whales all over the place this trip, so that was fun to watch too!

IMG_8594

Next up is Akaka Falls.  We came here on our first trip to Hawaii and I have been dying to go back ever since! I took a hundred pictures of it last time, and they just don’t do it justice.  It is GIANT! Oh my goodness, and SO beautiful.  We hiked around a loop and ended up at the falls.  So many interesting flowers, trees, leaves…we even saw a neat little lizard!

IMG_8535

IMG_8525

I’ve saved one of my favorites for last.  The end of the road at Hawi makes me happy.  The hike is definitely longer than the other places I’ve mentioned, which is one of the things I love most about it! As you are hiking down, this(below) is your view! Amazing, right?!  The black sand is so neat, and all that lush green…the best.

IMG_8618

We stopped halfway down to watch the whales and take in all the beauty.

IMG_8663

As we were exploring in the valley, we found this super cool log swing! I,of course, insisted that Brian take a photo with me on it.  There wasn’t anyone around to take it, so I set up our self timer…like a fool haha!  I only had a few seconds to run over logs, rocks, and make it onto the swing.  What I didn’t think through, though, was that with all my momentum there was nothing to stop me…and, yeah.  Totally threw both Brian and I over the back of the log and we hit HARD!  Because we are so blessed, the camera just happened to go off at the perfect moment to document my enormous fail. If there was ever a time for a million laughing crying emojis it would be now.  I had so much dirt and sticks in my hair(like full on sticks) that I couldn’t even get them all out.  They are probably still in there. My favorite part, though, is that Brian is holding on for dear life to the log trying his best to save us.  I honestly laugh out loud when I look at his hand in this pic.  Oh boy.  Well, my gross bloody arm is almost all healed now, but the memory remains…and its a good one!

IMG_8638

Our trip was incredible! We also spent some perfect days on the beach, paddle boarding, swam with dolphins and manta rays!  Truly the trip of a lifetime.

Thanks for reading! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! XO

Jump Creek and a Half Up Fishtail Halo

A few weeks ago our good friends took us to this neat spot, Jump Creek.  It has a beautiful waterfall nestled into some equally beautiful trees. It was a fun little hike, and Viv loved playing in the water!

I love these outdoor adventures with my little family!

I filmed a tutorial for this half up fishtail halo hairstyle I’m wearing.  To watch it, click here!

For Those Beachy Days

We love spending time at the lake! Of course, a Hawaiian beach would be my first choice, but we don’t have those in Idaho. So a lake it is! My hair takes a long time to dry, so I usually try to avoid getting it wet.  Turns out that is impossible when you practice AcroYoga with your husband on a paddle board haha. Yeah I got drenched.  In salt water, my hair gets a lot of texture and I can usually coax a little wave out of it, but without that salt, I just get the flat wet dog look.  Sounds amazing, right? No. Thankfully, I have a hair product from the KMS Hair Play line called sea salt spray.  It brings the salty beach texture right to you.  I spray this on my hair as it dries and it helps me get more texture and movement into my limp locks.  One tip I’ll tell you that I do is avoid brushing your hair with anything, including your fingers.  It feels uncomfortable sometimes, like you have giant knots all over your head, but it looks way better I promise.  The exception to this is if you have a lot of natural texture already built in (lucky) and brushing your hair out doesn’t cause it to flatten out.  Spray it in, scrunch a lot, and don’t run your fingers through it.  Once it is mostly dry, I like to spray in some wax to add even more texture.  My favorite spray wax, going on five years now, is flip it over by Sexy Hair. I also use this after I curl my hair to add separation.  Just like the name says, flip your head over and lightly spray it over your hair, then scrunch again.  Don’t use too much or you will be a sticky mess and might as well head back into the lake to start over ha

Enjoy!

Moab: Delicate Arch

Over spring break our good friends invited us to join them on a family trip to Moab, UT. They have three awesome kids about the same age as ours. We had never been there before, and were so excited to go! The trip went by way too fast, and we left already wanting to go back. Myla even asked if we could live there haha. It was incredibly beautiful, and the kids did so well hiking! We were able to go see a lot of the most well known sites. Our first big hike was to see Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. It was a couple miles round trip and I was so proud of the little kiddos. Most of the time we were trying to keep up with them! Pictures really can’t do justice to the beauty, but I’m glad we have them to help us remember it!

Lochsa River

Last year we started a new tradition of going to the Lochsa River every spring, and so far we are in love.  This river is not only the most beautiful ever, but so fun and challenging to run! I was able to be on the river last year, but this year I just took pics from the bank.  Here is a shot from last year

IMG_4036We went a few weeks later in the season last year, so the water wasn’t as high as this year, but we absolutely loved it both times.

These are some shots from this year.  It is hard to capture the magnitude of the water in pictures, it was incredible!

This is Brian and his mom scouting the rapid named Lochsa Falls.  This drop is the most famous on this river and people come set up camp chairs to watch the rafters and kayakers go through it.   It’s a good show!
