Lady in Red

Haha I didn’t know what to title this one.  All that kept coming to my head were songs about red dresses 😀 Ha so we will just go with it!

On that note, this red dress is the best ever! It is thick enough to wear without layering, the color is perfect, and the material moves so well.  Also, it is like wearing a giant blanket!  I love having something that is so easy to throw on, comfortable, and looks good.

r2-1-of-1 I often wear this dress on its own, but here I paired it with a jacket.  One of my favorite parts of it is the asymmetrical hemline.  I love how it is longer on the sides.  I wear it with boots a lot, and I also love how it looks with heels! Red long sleeve floor length dress styled with strappy leopard print heels and a leather jacket.

In celebration of cyber Monday, SheIn is offering a free gift for every purchase made tomorrow.  I have loved everything I’ve ordered!  Make sure you double check sizing.  r4-1-of-1

I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving with the people you love most! XO

First Trimester Recap

Hi! I just realized I haven’t posted to my site yet that I’m expecting. So, if you don’t follow along on Instagram or Facebook, surprise! I’m due in April, and couldn’t be more excited 🙂

I thought I would just fill you in on how the first trimester went, since I kept the pregnancy a secret through it.  I know everyone has unique experiences, and I always love hearing about them!  For me personally, the first trimester is always a bit rough.  This time was not as bad as my first, but tougher than my second.  I had a hard time keeping food down, and it was almost impossible to find foods that sounded appealing.  I was super tired, and very emotional haha.  Basically, a dream to be around! My poor family 🙂 I couldn’t make it through the day without at least a little nap.  That part hasn’t gone away, but I’m feeling much better now!  My favorite part of the first trimester is the excitement of finding out, and having your first ultrasound.  It’s such a miracle!  I am now feeling the babe kick, definitely showing, and I can finally eat again.  We will find out the gender in a few weeks.  I can’t wait! Fall style black and white outfit with thigh high black boots! Maternity friendly fashion. Dressing the bump. 1st trimester clothes!

For the next few months I will be sharing some maternity friendly looks, including this one from PinkBlush.  This top can be worn without a bump too!  It is the perfect length to pair with comfy leggings and boots this winter.
Maternity friendly outfit! Casual blouse with leggings and a sweater!

This is my first time being pregnant during winter, so I have been on the hunt for cute maternity clothes.  There are SO many on PinkBlush, I have been shopping them a lot!

I’d love to hear your pregnancy experiences, and any recommendations you might have for maternity clothes! Thanks for all your love and support so far XO

Flowy Fall Maxi

I love when the leaves are both on the trees and on the ground.  It’s a small window, but I always appreciate it.  I love driving down streets downtown with big, mature trees!  It feels like a tunnel of amazing fall-ness 🙂

6-1-of-1

This dress from Make Me Chic also adds to the feeling of amazing fall-ness, because it is perfect for this weather!  It is fully lined through the skirt, so it is warm enough for these cooler days, but still flowy and easy to wear.  The olive color is one of my favorite colors to wear in the fall and winter! One of my favorite parts about it is that it can be dressed up for a formal holiday party, or worn more casually as well.  I love a versatile piece that stands on it’s own!

Flowy Fall Maxi Dress. Long maxi wrap dress in green.

I chose to pair it with simple gold jewelry here.  I plan to dress it up with more jewelry and heels next time!  I love how comfortable it is, yet looks so classy.

What are your favorite fall items? We are fully embracing the pumpkin everything and hot wassail! XO

The Wolf

Halloween Makeup! Wolf Makeup, lovely feminine Halloween look and costume!

This was such a fun project! I have never really been one to dress up.  Not because I’m against it, but mostly thanks to my procrastination skills that take over. Oops!  This year, though, my good friend Stayc Smart asked if I wanted to do a Halloween shoot together, and I’m so glad we did it!  We came up with the idea for a wolf, and it just evolved from there.  It was so different than anything I have done before, and I liked the challenge!  I did the hair and makeup, and Stayc did pretty much everything else.  She is amazing!

We shot in two different locations.  One was a downtown feel with graffiti to add a little edge.  The other was in the foothills, which sadly had a recent fire sweep through them, leaving them charred as you can see in the photo above.  Stayc really had a vision and it was neat bringing it to life. She also posted about this shoot HERE.

Hello Fall

View More: http://corriebutlerphotography.pass.us/savanahsuzy

You know I’m a summer girl, but this year something about the seasons changing has me more excited than usual.  I can’t quite nail down what it is, but I’m a fan of fall right now.  Could be the amazing colors, the cooler weather (therefore, comfy sweaters and boots) the delicious food, I could go on.  I guess I do know why it’s so great!  I have already started making hot wassail and planning all kinds of decorative sugar cookies.  Hello fall!

savanah-suzy-0037

One of the exciting parts of fall is definitely the style options!  I love this top from Shein because the color is amazing! It’s on sale for $17, which is awesome! I also love the little detail on the sleeves.  Unique pieces add so much to the personality of your outfit, and this one does just that!

My darling friend Corrie Butler took these photos of my friend Suzy and I.  I love how the light was captured!  I adore both of these babes 🙂

K let’s chat about our jewelry for a sec.  How amazing is this necklace?! SOO cool! It is from RUS Turquoise.  I’ve always had a thing for turquoise.  My grandma wore it all the time and I remember crushing on it while growing up.  It’s so unique and beautiful.  I can’t get enough!

What are your favorite things about fall? I’d love to hear! Hope you have an amazing week 🙂 XO

Adventurous Princesses

There is nothing quite like the enchantment of princesses for my little girls.  They love them!  I was worried when there was a large age gap between my girls that they wouldn’t ever be in the same phase of play, but they were both so excited to get their Angel Wish Princess in a Box! Immediately they wanted to be, in their words, “Adventurous princesses” and go exploring 🙂

10-1-of-1

The Angel Wish Box is a little girl’s dream come true!  Each Princess in a Box contains this darling skirt, shirt, collar, crown, and wand.  They come in different color options and I honestly can’t pick a favorite!

This is such a great gift idea for birthdays or holidays, as well as for Halloween coming up! The quality is excellent too.  If you want to order one, go HERE and use code VIPANGEL50  for 50% off your box until October 15th!

I’m a big fan of anything that sparks imagination and friendship in my girls.  I love that these darling outfits were able to encourage my adventurous princesses!  We will definitely be playing in them time and time again.  Thank you Angel Wish Box!

Braving Bibs

1-1-of-1

For the most part, when it comes to my style, I’m not always that brave.  Every once in a while I throw something crazy in there, but for the most part, I keep it safe.  I have been watching the overall trends going on for the last bit, and I actually think they are darling on most people.  I have even tried to convince my daughter to embrace them. She has a fashionable mind of her own, though haha 🙂6-1-of-1

When I found these bibs on SheIn I decided to take the plunge.  Most of myself is glad I did, even though I’m not yet brave enough to wear them all the time.  They are fun to switch things up!  4-1-of-1

I kept the rest of the look simple, with basic black for my top, booties, and accessories. I rarely wear my hair all the way up, but since I was already getting crazy ha I thought, “Why not!”

5-1-of-1

I found SO many darling things on SheIn! I’m excited to shop there again.  Check it out. They are having a killer sale right now!  Make sure you check sizing really well, though!

How do you feel about braving bibs?  I’d love to know your thoughts, and if you have a favorite pair!  Hope you are having a wonderful start to your week 🙂 XO

Braving Bibs! Overalls coming back in style!

Summer Reading

With school around the corner, I know I’m going to miss having Myla at home so much. This summer we have been working on her reading so she is fresh when she heads back into the classroom. One of my favorite things to see is her reading to Viv.  Viv will sit there all day long and listen to her! It is so sweet.

We received these darling books from Bookroo and my girls LOVE them! They have board books and picture books available through monthly subscriptions.  They come wrapped up really cute, so opening them up is like Christmas! 8 (1 of 1)7 (1 of 1)

This month’s box came with two books.  Myla has been reading them non-stop! She even brings them on car rides with us 🙂 6 (1 of 1)

It is really sweet to see Myla improving in her reading skills.  The first time she read a book to me, I couldn’t help but tear up.  Some milestones just get me! It is amazing watching her grow up and I’m so grateful to be her mom.

Check out Bookroo to bring a little more joy to your childrens’ life and help them love reading! Good luck with all things back to school! XO4 (1 of 1)3 (1 of 1)

Girl Maker

Being a “girl maker,” or mom of girls, is one of my favorite parts of my life.  No doubt, I would love boys too, but so far I’ve been dealt the girl card, and I’m pretty happy about it!  View More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullife

There are SO many things I have learned from raising my babes so far, and it’s clear to me everyday that I have so much more to learn.  I’m ok with that, though!  There are some important things I want my girls to glean. Being kind and compassionate, including to yourself, is a big one!  View More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullife

I loved this GIRL MAKER tee from Revol Roots because it connected to my heart.  It is made of the most comfortable material and I love how simple it is!  I wear it all the time!

I’m going to get real here.  I’ve had to learn a few things the hard way, and as a result, my parenting style has changed quite a bit these last couple years.  I used to parent a lot out of fear.  Mainly fear that I wouldn’t teach them something they needed to know, or that they would grow up lacking some major component of life I hadn’t given them. I put so much unnecessary stress into my life everyday, even though my intentions were pure.  My stress, of course, was not helping my children to be carefree, happy, and confident like I wanted them to be.  Haha like I had been stressing to teach them to be! Thankfully, I hit my knees in prayer and was guided to some books that helped me come to a pretty clear realization…The only way for me to truly teach them, is for me to be what I want them to be.  It was daunting and overwhelming at first.  I was in a place where I knew I had a lot to work on, in many ways.  Being kind to myself was not even something I was comfortable with.  Looking back on it now, it’s hard to wrap my head around the daily thoughts and conversations I allowed to roll around in my brain, and even vocalize to myself.  No wonder I was feeling inadequate as a wife, mother, homemaker, daughter, sister, friend, etc.  Sadly, I was telling myself I was inadequate in almost every way with the hope that it would somehow motivate me to do better.  Hence the fear of not raising my girls “right.”View More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullife

It has taken daily prayer, and intentional action every single day for the last couple years, but I’m finally in a place where I am kind to myself.  I’m not perfect by any means, and I catch myself slipping all the time.  All it takes, though, is one look in my daughter’s eyes to bring me back. (Or my sweet husband not letting us leave until I appologize to myslef for the self-depreciating comment I made 🙂 )  The best and most effective way to teach, in my opinion, is by example.  I feel like one of the greatest gifts I, as a mother, can give my daughters is to embody the things I am trying to teach them.  At first it seemed selfish to me to put so much effort in my improvement, but it has made such a difference!

Our home has become so much more relaxed and encouraging, the more confident I become in my imperfection.  I want my girls to know how beautiful and special they are, be confident, and the rest will come! I love being a GIRL MAKER!Girl maker t shirt- gray v neck! Girl mom shirt!

Have a wonderful week! XO

Extend Your Summer Nights

View More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullife

I’m still in denial a bit that school is starting in a couple weeks and that summer is coming to an end 😦 My summer loving heart never wants it to leave! We have been trying to make the most of every day.  If you are like us, you may also be clinging to summer, and wanting a way to extend your summer nights!

View More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullifeView More: http://staycsmartphotography.pass.us/boldbeautifullife

The girls and I have spent a lot of nights this summer watching their dad play lacrosse on his summer league.  We are usually using my phone to take pictures, dance to music, chat with grandparents, etc while we “watch” 🙂 By some crazy miracle (they lost most of the games this season) they actually make it to the playoffs and clawed their way to a victory last night! If you hurry, you can catch my cute husband’s championship victory dance on my Instagram story haha (@savanahpoulsen)

Since we use my phone all day (mainly for our dance parties) and now we also use it all night, my battery just cant keep up! I’m so grateful for my portable charger from MOXYO 🙂 It carries a full charge on it and has saved us many times! By saved us, I mean made it possible for Myla to take more selfies because you know those are GOLD haha

Documenting our fun times together is something that is super important to me.  It’s nice to know I have my MOXYO charger to help! This cute case is also from MOXYO and I love it.  It is sleek and since my phone is gigantic, it’s great to have a case that doesn’t add any bulk!

Hope you are enjoying your summer! I’d love to hear your favorite activities and how you extend your summer nights! XO
