Actually a Dress

As this belly grows bigger and bigger, it’s getting hard to find shirts that are long enough. This top is actually a dress technically, but I’m loving wearing it as a top with leggings. These leggings have been my best friend these last few months. I dare you try and take them from me! It’s not happening 🙂

I have been so grateful that it has been warming up lately. Considering it hailed most of the day today, though, I’d say the weather is still feeling a bit moody. I try and keep a jacket with me for those swings that sneak up on you. This jacket is fun and a little edgy!

For my makeup I decided to keep everything pretty neutral except my lip color. I like to add a little pop sometimes! I’m wearing Desert Sunset blush, IIID foundation, honey illuminator, eyeshadows sabrina, mama, oak, and trust all from HERE

A Makeup Look with Maskcara Beauty

I have been using and loving Maskcara Beauty products for about the last year. I have been wanting to bring you a tutorial with it, so I’m excited to finally share it with you!

The reason I love it so much is because of the colors and consistency. The IIID foundation applies so smoothly, and the colors are my favorite. I love the idea behind it that your foundation should work with the natural shadows of your face, rather than matting everything out, and then you have to try to add dimension back in.

I begin with the highlight shade, but I know others that like to start with the contour, so it’s up to you. I am using Aura for my main highlight, and Stone for my contour. I use a little bit of Sunlit highlight as well. The highlight is applied under the eyes, top of nose, lower forehead, top of the cheekbone, chin, and upper lip. The contour is applied under the cheekbone, on the sides of the nose, on the top of the forehead, and under the chin/jaw. I used the 30 second HAC brush. I love the creamy blush from Maskcara and I am using Baby Watermelon in this video. I use it on my cheeks as well as my lips! The Honey illuminator adds just a bit of light to the top of the cheek bones and nose.

Maskcara also has some great eyeshadow shades! I have been playing around with them and will be showing you more looks using them in the future. For this one I used Sabrina, Stardust, Finn, and Cole. To apply the shadow I used the eye shadow everything brush.

The Wolf

This was such a fun project! I have never really been one to dress up. Not because I’m against it, but mostly thanks to my procrastination skills that take over. Oops! This year, though, my good friend Stayc Smart asked if I wanted to do a Halloween shoot together, and I’m so glad we did it! We came up with the idea for a wolf, and it just evolved from there. It was so different than anything I have done before, and I liked the challenge! I did the hair and makeup, and Stayc did pretty much everything else. She is amazing!

We shot in two different locations. One was a downtown feel with graffiti to add a little edge. The other was in the foothills, which sadly had a recent fire sweep through them, leaving them charred as you can see in the photo above. Stayc really had a vision and it was neat bringing it to life. She also posted about this shoot HERE.

Day 5 Eliminate and Enhance: Contouring

Our last day! You made it to day 5. How has it been going so far? I hope you have learned a new tip that has helped you embrace your natural beauty more!

For our last day, I want to walk you through how to enhance your facial features. Pair this with the eyes from day 3 and you are ready for any occasion!

1. Start by using a foundation/concealer/powder, or any combination of the three. Level out any redness, dark circles, or blemishes.

2. Use a light powder, highlight, or light eyeshadow and gently sweep over your upper cheekbones and the top of your nose from the bridge to the tip.

3. Working in a line from your upper ear to the corner of your mouth, make small circles with a bronzing powder. I like to use a powder with a matte finish. Stop on your lower cheek.

4. Use the bronzing powder to lightly shadow the sides of your nose and the top of your forehead. Blend everything together with a large powder brush and translucent powder.

5. Apply blush from the center of your cheek up toward your ear.

6. Add a fun lip and you are set!

Day 3 Eliminate and Enhance: Eyes

Welcome to day 3! Hope it is going well and you are feeling more beautiful already.
Today I’m sharing my most simple eye makeup tips to make the biggest impact. They are meant to enhance and highlight the natural beauty of your eyes. Also, they should take no more than five minutes, so they can be done even when you are running late!

The steps move left to right, starting with the top left, moving to top right, then middle left, middle right, so on…

1. Start with a primer, if you would like to, otherwise just a blank slate.

2. & 3. Use a light eyeshadow and soft brush to highlight under the brow (not the whole eyelid, just the brow bone) and the inner eye.

4. & 5. Softly brush a light layer of eyeshadow on the top of your cheekbone, under the outer corner of your eye.

6. Add eyeliner to your upper lids.

7. Add mascara to the upper lashes. If you want, you can also add a strip of false eyelashes to add a little oomph.

8. Begin shaping your brows. Use a brush to create a line from the outside of your nose to the inside of your eye. Mark it on your brow.

9. Next, create a line from the outside of your nose to the outside of your iris. This is the highest point of your brow.

10. Create a line from the outside of your nose to the outside of your eye. This is where your brow ends.

11. Use a brow kit, powder, pencil, whatever you prefer to fill in and connect the three points.

12. Soften your brows with an empty mascara wand. You can get them at the grocery store, or just get one from a cosmetic counter in the mall. Brush softly from the inner brow towards the outside.

That’s it! Quick, simple, and effective!

Comfy and Chic (but mostly comfy)

I’m going to be honest…I would way rather be in sweats than dressed up any day of the week, and usually I am. I never thought an outfit could change my mind, but this one totally has. I have to talk myself out of wearing this skirt to bed. Its amazing, so soft and stretchy. Also, it’s long enough to juggle small children without needing a third arm to keep it in place. That is probably what I appreciate most as I’m carrying Viv in one arm, my diaper bag and carseat in the other, and attempting to corral Myla with just my feet. As for this top, so comfy too! I love that it has such a unique design with the open back, but still has structure. It’s from the Rambler Boutique, if you haven’t checked them out yet, make sure you do! They have really unique clothing and jewelry, and it’s run by two of the greatest girls I know!

Bling and a Braid

So I have this incredibly beautiful friend. Her name is BreAna Thomas. Check out her blog here if you want some beauty and fashion inspiration. Just be prepared that she is perfect, but here is the kicker…she is also the sweetest ever! I love hanging out with her and our husbands get along just as well as us girls do, which makes them the best kind of friends to have. She is also an amazing photographer and we decided to do an impromptu photo session to highlight some jewelry I got from the Rambler Boutique. They now have a website, so check that out here as well! I did a neutral makeup look for this including one of my favorite new lipsticks from Clinique. It’s called Beige Pop. I find myself wearing it almost everyday because it goes with everything!

So Much Wind

So I have had these pictures for a couple months and haven’t posted them because of my own insecurities. For starters, my babe was only a couple months old, so I was still getting used to my shape. Also, a golden retriever bit my upper lip when I was nine years old, and even though I had multiple surgeries in the years following, I can still see the scars and imperfections. Of course, there are other things, but those are what stand out to me here. However, recently I have been working on letting go of some of my insecurities and embracing imperfection. I think that allows for more honest and meaningful connection with others, such as my family, and with God. Since those things are far more important to me, I’m moving forward in my efforts to embrace imperfection! I know it’s a process, but that is why it’s worth it.

I owe it to my wonderful photographer, Hannah Swenson, to post these because she is amazing! The wind was crazy! Hair was everywhere. I have a lot of hair anyway, but add crazy curls and it’s all over the place haha. To get these curls, I wrapped my hair around a one inch curling iron in all different directions. The goal was for it to look unkempt and free. If you are ever going for this look just add lots of hair product and lots of wind!

A Kimono Sweater and Gold Accents

I’m bringing you my first fashion post today! A couple of my friends opened up a boutique called The Rambler and I’m in love with their stuff! They have so many unique pieces, including some of my favorite jewelry. Check them out here! This kimono is from their shop, as well as some items I will be featuring in upcoming posts. I have also teamed up with my girl Hannah Swenson to bring you a little extra spunk! She is a sparkling ray of sunshine as well as a very talented photographer. She took these photos and I love her to death! A tutorial for this super simple bubble braid is coming up soon as well!
